David Coulthard (born 27 March 1971), Formula 1 racing driver from Twynholm with ambitions to win the F1-world championship.

Coulthard was born 1971 in Twynholm, Galloway, south west Scotland. His parents are Duncan and Joyce Coulthard. His sister set up a museum at his home for fans and supporters to visit.

David grew up in Twynholm where his father is partner of the haulage firm
Coulthard/Hayton. He was educated in Kirkcudbright Academy where, in-between
travelling for karting races, he achieved 8 O-Levels, 1 Higher and 6 Detentions.
David now lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco and has a girlfriend, Heidi Wichlinski (Model). His fans gave him the nickname:DC. His distinctive helmet design was painted Stranraer karter Brian Smith as a thank you to his father for sponsorship in karting.
Early days karting
Like most of the great racing drivers of our time, David started his racing careerat a young age - in karting. At the age of 12 he became Scottish Junior Kart Champion, a title which he successfully defended until 1986 when he moved into the Open Championship.
The following years he won three times Scottish Champion, twice winner of the Scottish Open Championship and British Super 1 Championship (Junior), winner of the Scottish Open Championship (Senior). David finished his Karting Career in 1988 to go onto bigger achievements.
