The River Annan, Annan - Brydekirk - Annan Riverside Walk

River Annan Riverside WalkDistance: approx 6 miles (round trip)

Typical duration: approximately 3 hours

Walking on: Stone path, grass, beaten earth - can be muddy at certain times of year.

Starting point: several!

Everholm Playing Field at the foot of Battery Street in Annan and heading north along the riverside path towards Brydekirk.

Or crossing to the opposite side of the river, across the stone bridge beside The Blue Bell heading out of Annan then going down the steps on your right hand side to the riverside (grassy) path, then heading north towards Brydekirk.

Or Bridge Street in Brydekirk.heading south along riverside path towards Annan (either side of the river).

Walk overview

Circular riverside walk along The River Annan - can start at either Annan or the village of Brydekirk. There is a bridge along the way as well so that you can shorten your walk or swap sides if required.

Suitable for older children and a stop can be made halfway in Annan or Brydekirk for food and refreshments.

Look out for

The road on the west side of the river passes Annan cemetery, containing graves from the 19th Century to date, and including the official war graves of the airmen from R.A.F. Annan.

How to get here

TO ANNAN
From Carlisle, take the M6 North and then the A74 to Gretna then follow the A75 to Annan.
From Dumfries, take the A75 towards Annan.

TO BRYDEKIRK
From Annan, take the B723 towards Ecclefechan and take turn off signposted Brydekirk.
